Though Sola wood resembles Balsa, it is actually a very durable and fibrous tapioca plant root. A tropical and highly drought tolerant species of the Euphorbiaceae (spurge) Genus which share characteristics of the Poinsettias and Castor Oil plants. The tapioca plant is known by many names: Cassava, Manioc, Arrowroot, and sometimes Yuca, a highly efficient carbohydrate which sustains hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Cassava (Tapioca) plants grow in tropical and arid climates, with farming operations throughout Central and South America, Africa, India, Australia and even Hawaii.
